Eyelid Surgery

The delicate thin upper and lower eyelid tissues are particularly prone to ageing. This area is usually one of the first to give away your true age.

Wrinkles, sagging and drooping eyelids can make you appear constantly tired and older than you truly are or feel. Applying make-up becomes difficult and no matter how much you rest and hydrate, you still appear tired.

This is a treatable condition. Loose and sagging skin in the upper eyelid area as well as puffiness and wrinkles in the lower eyelid area can be corrected. Eyelid surgery, or “blepharoplasty,” can remove the effects of years of damage due to ageing, stress, gravity, sun exposure, and smoking. Blepharoplasty creates a more refreshed appearance through the removal of loose skin and excess fat in the eyelids.

Additional Information

After surgery there will be some swelling, bruising and irritation or dry eyes. This can all be controlled with cold compresses and special ointments. During a consultation Dr. V will go through everything with you and decide on which approach is the best one for you.

Most patients return to work and are comfortable going out in public within a week to 10 days after surgery. Patients should refrain from strenuous exercise and physical activities for at least two to three weeks. During the recovery process, it is important for patients to get some rest and take it easy.

After blepharoplasty you’ll look refreshed, less tired and have a more open look. Friends and family might notice you appear less sad, smoother and younger. Dr. Rotsaert meticulously plans incisions so scars will be hidden in natural creases to conceal them as much as possible making them virtually imperceptible.

By removing excess skin and fat your eyelids will appear smoother and your gaze will look brighter and younger.

Procedure performed at The London Welbeck Hospital under local anaesthesia.
